Coding Interactive VR Wire Physics for Unity

This video details the creation of realtime wire physics in the Unity Engine, for use in my work-in-progress VR game. These wire physics are another addition to the game’s growing physics-based, engaging puzzle elements.

This project already had an off/on puzzle mechanic, wherein a player would find a battery to power up a door in order to progress. While this is a useful way to encourage exploration, I needed a secondary power up mechanic. As an added layer of complexity, the player now has to link a battery to the correct application with the right wire. Aligning and placing wires also puts the player’s hands in predictable locations, which is ideal for hand-based event triggers.
